Pick A Card!

DCP_7204.JPG

Woo hoo!  I'm all grown up an' shit!  Behold, y'all, the first ever proper paid-for business card for Nagl Industries!  After asking your advice (and subsequently going with the first design) I'm rather pleased with the finished products.  Only 100 of the little buggers printed in this first run, since I have no idea whether anyone's actually going to take them or not.  If they do, well, the next batch will have completely different artwork on that back, eventually making this first run ludicrously collectable in a few decades time (you'll see!  you'll see!) - and if they don't, well, they'll make good guinea-pig bedding one day.

DCP_7203.JPGJust in time too, with the Cow Parade Auction blossoming into action (and auction) tomorrow evening.  The ticket and cattle-log (their pun, not mine) have already arrived into my grubby mitts, and the Burd & I have discussed on What To Wear - suit jacket, trousers and shirt sans tie ought to do.  While my bonnie flies over the ocean (well, straith) tomorrow, I'll be getting ready both for the oddest cattle market ever and for hurtling Orkneywards.  With help from a chum in PR places (the good exception that proves Bill Hicks' rule) there's been a wee bit of media interest, which is nice and could lead to more interest in the sketchbook, though it's most notable for giving me a Google News Alert even if it will probably only gather eons of dust after this initial use.

Tomorrow's auction will be at a supremely swish hotel which is really far too good for the likes of me, so I'd better enjoy it while I can.  I intend to take numerous photos and maybe a sketch or too, hopefully finding time at the end of the night to write about it afterwards.  Don't bet on it though, since I need to be on a train tomorrow morning at 06:40.  06:40!  I arrive in Stromness 13 & a half hours later (it took me less time to go to New York, by jiminy!), hopefully with a new sketchbook swelling with Highland landscape sketches along these lines.  I'm incredibly psyched up about both the auction and especially Orkney, being just the ticket after a summer in the city.  Although iPrecious will be with the Lass & I, I can't be sure how regular 'net posting will be, or even whether there'll be anything between now and when we return, but fear not!  Whether in the next week or next fortnight, there'll be goodies aplenty for you, from a write-up of the whole auction shebang to time-lapse footage from Orkney (remember the Skye ones?), plus photos, sketches and hopefully paintings of that distant, windswept isle.  If the sketchbook goes for a decent amount tomorrow evening, expect a brief yelp of triumph here - and if no-one buys it, I DENY EVERYTHING.

And for all Flickr users, the era-defining photo of the Burd with a bowl on her head is now on Flickr.  Fave it to smithereens!
