It's not all work work work...

Fragments from the last few days:

- MY ROCK IS WEAK... Sadly I wasn't in much of a state for the sleazy riff orgy of the Sluts of Trust on Friday night, and I'm regretting it already. Curse the working weak for making me feeble, CURSE IT. Why the hell I'm not being paid just to sit at home and be brilliant, I just don't know. Write to your MP and demand I be put on the Civil List.

- ...BUT MY FUTUREROCK IS MIGHTY & THROBBY. Despite my show no-show on Friday night, I've gone and booked myself in for three quality (bloody better be, anyway) gigs, two of which are next week and within 48 hours of each other. Sooooo, that's the highly-excitable MCLUSKY on Tuesday, then the band I missed back in October due to Bastard Flu, the SUPER FURRY ANIMALS on Thursday. Then we jump forward a couple of months, Zelda-style, and go to see WILCO on the 13th July. Oooh, what tuney goodies! And if the Bastard Flu tries to stop me again, I'll just bloody well get miniaturized a la Inner Space, find the microbey bollocks and KICK IT TO SHIT.

- JONNY COME LATELY to the cinema, catching 21 GRAMS and THE STATION AGENT when most peeps had seen them months back. Ah well, you can get them on DVD pretty soon, and they BOTH RULE HARD. Well, not quite - 21 Grams is jolly hard, and fucking superb, but there's nothing hard about The Station Agent - it's possibly the perfect Sunday film, which I mean in the nicest possible way. Nothing big or flashy happens at all, no splodes or kicks (normally my benchmark for greatness), no rampant sauciness, just a few people getting to know each other. Sounds riveting, dunnit? But it's genuinely great - you know when reviews describe something as 'charming'? That's EXACTLY what this films is - unsentimental, pleasant, at times harsh, and a real pleasure to watch. Plus it's the first film I've seen that revolves around solitude and not condemn it out-and-out - but it does eventually run along the lines of 'no man is an island', but in such a cheese-and-cliche-free manner that when it finally does end, it's too soon, because you've warmed to the characters so much, and so enjoy their times together, that another 90 minutes of it would be just dandy, thanks.

Point being, SEE THE STATION AGENT. And 21 Grams, but there's loads of reviews out there in Bloggyland, and you've probably seen it already. Did you like it? Yeah, me too.

- DA WIMMIN! Nuh-uh, not yet you don't. Strategy still formulating; Napoleonesque, but taller. My beard is stroked in thoughtfulness. Except I just typed that as 'my bread is stroked'. Intriguing...

- DA MUNEE! Going for promotion at work, may well fail miserably and up my Job-Based Bitterness dial to 7. Then again, may get it and be one step closer to TOTAL AND COMPLETE EXECUTIVE POWER, MWAAHARHARHARGGGH! And I am working on a new digital portfolio, honest I am. It's just all in my head so far. But I'll do it! I will! Don't frown!

- BECAUSE I WILL NEVER GET BORED OF LOOKING AT THIS IMAGE:
